What are we doing?

For those that are thinking of just coming in just for the date of the wedding itself should seriously reconsider when you see the amazing events we have lined up. We are shooting for a week of activites that anyone and everyone can participate in. Whether you decide to is, of course, completely up to you.

July 2: Oesterle Farm Tour and Game Day

Michigan summers, while mild compared to Tucson, can be a bit unpleasant if you let them. The best way to deal is by embracing the sweat fest and playing kickball! Meet us for a day of sports (basketball, volleyball, maybe even ultimate frisbee!). If you have a baseball mitt then bring it. The festivities will be at the Alaiedon township hall at 2021 Holt Rd and the games will begin at 11:00 am. This will then be followed by a dip in the pool at the Oesterle Farm right up the road located at 1975 Okemos Road.

July 3: Warren Pool Party and Rehearsal Dinner

You have worked hard and now you can relax by spending the majority of the day playing cards (or your favorite board game) and swimming in the Warren pool at 1527 Okemos Rd. Good food will abound and good drinks will flow. We invite everybody to partake in our modified rehearsal dinner starting at 2:00 pm.

July 4: The Wedding

The big event and the only requirement on your agenda. The ceremony begins at 7:00 pm at the farm located here. The ceremony will be followed by a Fourth of July cookout with good wine and beer from Bells Brewery. There shall be a live band and good dancing, and if we are in luck we can see fireworks at sundown. Once again we are asking that nobody gives us any presents besides for bringing a dish to pass and a bouquet of flowers. The main reason is that we are going to be traveling across the country after our wedding and don't have much space to store these things. But I insist

July 5: The Day After Brunch

Custom dictates that there is supposed to be a day after brunch. Far be it for us to spit in the face of custom (just because we wed in a barn doesn't mean we can't do things right). We are following the intensity of the wedding with a laid back day of recuperation most likely near a pool, details to follow. This will also be when we begin our packing for the adventures of the Weekend. We will most likely leave this afternoon for the Road Trip!

Around Town

For those that have some extra time between all the festivities Lansing does have some cool stuff to do that those of us who live here often forget about. We have compiled a list for visiters and residents alike.

• Michigan State University
• Visit the Planetarium and see the stars.
• Learn how to make (and eat) homemade icecream and chocolate cheese at the Dairy Store
• Stroll through the 4H Gardens(kid friendly) or the Botanical Gardens
• See atoms being smashed at one of the foremost Cyclotrons in the country
• Explore your senses at Impression 5 science center
• Just outside of Impression 5 is the Planet Walk, where each footstep equals 1 million miles as you traverse our solar system. It is takes about 45 minutes to complete the journey. It ends right next to:
• Potter's Park Zoo, where a Snow Leopard cub was just born.
• Go for a hike on one of these trails
• If you are staying a little past the wedding then you can check out the Common Ground Music Festival.
• Lansing is after all the capital and you can take a tour of the Capital Building.
• What is the state sport of Michigan? Bowling! Check out bowling in Mason and elsewhere.

Around Michigan

Many people will have access to cars and will not be limited by our humble capital city. If you are feeling adventurous then here is list of things to do around the state.

• Experience the America's past in a whole new way at Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. See a real blacksmith and glassblower at work. See the Wright Bros. Bicycle shop or the car that JFK was shot in. It is about 1 1/2 hours from Lansing, but if you are flying into or out of Detroit then it makes a lot of sense to stop by.
• Just south of the border lies the barren wasteland that is Ohio, however to their credit is one of the largest adventure/amusement parks in the world: Cedar Point. It takes about 3 hours to get here.
• Perhaps one of the greatest things about Michigan are the Great Lakes. For those that have never seen them before they are a truly beautiful experience. We may be taking a field trip, but if not then here are two options for traveling souls. On the west coast there is a beautiful resort artist town of Saugatuck with a sandy beach state park nearby. And of course there is the ever famous Mackinac Island.
