If your read our post, of the same name as this recipe, you will discover that a traditional Ensalda de Frutas requires a few items that differ from this list. Alas, you are welcome to try it that way, but we recommend the Ensalada de Frutas we were served in San Agustin, Colombia at our hostal. This was a simple and delicious version which we describe here. Chop up and combine in a bowl all the fruits listed, plus any others except for the berries to be used in the puree. Next, puree the berries with the yogurt, honey, lime juice, and, if desired, the whipping cream. Note, yogurt in South America is much thinner, basically drinkable, so maybe try the gogurt versions in the U.S. Pour this puree over the ensalada as a type of fruit dressing and serve - great for breakfast, dessert or a tasty treat at any hour.
Note, in the original version the recipe calls for less fruit, ideally just canned papaya and pineapple. Furthermore, three scoops of ice cream, whipped cream (dream whip will do), lots of grated cheese (ideally a bland one), and a strange sort of multi-colored syrup decoration. Pick your poison.
