We’ll do it tomorrow…

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

We have been some six days here in Huanchaco and have little to say for ourselves.  It is not that our days are boring by any means, but rather that little strikes our interest beyond slowly meandering the beach collecting shells and coral that we believe absolutly mandatory and then abadoning them for a quick battle with some monster waves.  We have yet to go surfing as it seems like so much work, we plan on doing it tomorrow.  Also planned for the eternally distant tomorrow is a trip to the ruins of Chan Chan; we hear amazing things about this place.  Tomorrow holds many tourist trips for us such as churchs, markets, and hikes.

But today we do pretty much the same thing.  Wake up an hour or two after our alarm goes off.  We then stroll down to the beach and maybe do a Yoga workout or Colette will go for a run.  Next we go to our breakfast place which has a (real) fruit salad for about 50 cents and fresh Mayacuya (passion fruit) juice.  Then the rest of the day slowly dissolves into beachwalks, internet, and cooking.  Our biggest concern involves “running the gauntlet”, the beach area that has the most hawkers, representatives of restaurants, and outright beggars in the area.  We keep hoping that they will begin to recognize us and leave us alone, but that has yet to happen.

Our hostal has a good kitchen that keeps us occupied, so more posts to the Cooking Beasts soon.  Of course, that is planned for tomorrow.

Happy Peace Day
