Disappearing Act

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Well, it snowed today.  WHAT?!  That’s right, it snowed.  Freak storm at the equator?  Antarctic winds?  Oh, did we forget to mention we are in Michigan?  Right.

But seriously, as some of you may know, Blair’s grandfather has been very sick for the past few years.  His whole family has been afflicted by the disease called Alzheimer’s that recently took his grandfather after a very difficult battle.  We got the email that he was nearing the end last week Wednesday, and hours later we were on an overnight bus to Lima, a flight to Bogota, a flight to Miami, a flight to Detroit, and a car trip home to East Lansing.  Good times.  Fortunately, our haste proved worthwhile, as Blair arrived in time to see his grandfather one more time.  The whole family gathered, and last Saturday, Walter Warren, father of four beautiful ‘Warren Women’ and husband to Valdeen passed away.  The past week has been spent with family remembering Walter and supporting.  We are thankful to be here and plan to spend the holidays learning to play Pinocle with Valdeen.  Colette might even get her to lead a crocheting workshop.

But don’t worry, our adventures in the Southern Hemisphere have not ended… we have tickets back down at the end of Janurary and hope to send you underwater pictures of the Colombian Caribbean in the near future…  speaking of, we have quite a few pictures to upload still, so keep a look out for those.

Otherwise, we wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
